musings of a ragamuffin |
i live and breathe for these things: my wife, my faith, a great cup of coffee, and the opportunity to make the world better in some way with each day given. |

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I’ve got a friend who’s currently battling this horrible disease, and just celebrating one year winning. Her name is Angela, and she lives in Fort Mill, SC with her sister Kristin and her family. Kristin and I went to college together, and although I’ve not personally met her sister, we’ve become friends with her over the internet, watching her conquer this disease. She’s a real hero to many people, including April and I. You see, it’s important to remember that what we see as the challenges of the day pale in comparison to the challenges others are also facing.
Be thankful for what you have. Be grateful, and generous in your forgiving. Always remember you only get one ride on this roller coaster of life, make it a good one. Spend more time with your friends and family, cherishing all the moments. And be more gracious to your neighbor, for you have no idea what they mountains they or their families may be scaling. Remember that we’re all in this together. Love and support all. Hate cancer with all that’s within you and help support a cure and treatment. This kind of thing could happen to any of us, and it’s a great reminder to not take anything for granted, and to spend more time with the ones you love.
So, this month is for you Ang, and all, who like you, have been faced with the challenge of beating breast cancer, and are meeting it heads-on with your full wrath. Say a prayer for Angela, and all who are battling this horribly unfair disease. April and I support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
